Parish Council

The purpose of the parish pastoral council, as described in canon 536, is the "fostering" of "pastoral activity" in the parish. A pastoral council has been established whose responsibility is to investigate under the authority of the pastor all those things which pertain to pastoral works, to ponder them and to propose practical conclusions about them.

The Annunciation Parish Council meets monthly, September through May, on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM in the Selbert Hall Meeting Room.

Parishioners are welcome to attend. Due to limited seating and prepared agendas, it is recommended that you contact a council member prior to the meeting you wish to attend.

The Council  currently consists of the Pastor, two trustees, three at-large members, and three representatives from the Parish's five Commission groups, and the council secretary.

Sister Marilyn and Bob Moscato were with us to provide an update on the school.  Sister handed out the attached "Annunciation School Report for Pastoral Council" dated February 6, 2013 and briefly reviewed some of the issues.

Bob Moscato spoke on the school developing an evaluation plan for teachers, hopefully to be in place next year.  It includes a combination of evaluation criteria, including input from students, parents and parish administration.

Fr. Gene discussed the importance of the school providing a Catholic identity to our children.  He feels the morning assemblies are "precious time" for all, including him.

Sr. Marilyn thanked everyone for their involvement and support of the school and, the Council commends Sr. Marilyn for her leadership.

Deb Keenan will send Carol Leonard a copy of Sister's handout for a possible article for The Annunciator.

A motion was made by Mike Clabeaux, seconded by Sharon Walsh, and carried unanimously to accept the Minutes of January 2, 2013 as written.

At a recent Holy Name meeting, Mike Clabeaux brought up the possibility of reporters to support Carol Leonard and The Annunciator, and there seemed to be interest from the membership.  There were also several people interested in selling tickets for the Preservation Fund Drawing.   Mike also had flyers available for Duck Race on May 19 (copy attached).

There are 4 young people from the Parish attending the CYO convention and working on a banner.  Sharon will mention to Chris Hanley that this would be an opportunity to get some young parishioners featured in The Annunciator

Gail will also forward Carol Leonard photos of Rita Walter's upcoming 90th birthday party.

New Business

A signup sheet was circulated to help with Preservation Fund ticket sales.
