Dear Sodalists,
While vacationing in Spain, we turned on the TV to find that white smoke was coming from the chimney at the Vatican. Needless to say we were caught up in who would be our next Pope. We could only hope and pray that God’s hand would guide the Cardinals and they would pick a Pope for the people. When it was announced, there was electricity in the air and everyone seemed to be delighted. I think Pope Francis is a kind and caring person who will make a difference in this world we live in. Let us all try and make a difference in the people that we meet on a daily basis.
I’d like to wish you all a very Holy Easter Season and may the risen Lord fill your heart and homes this Easter with the presence of the Holy Spirit.
I’d like to thank you all for your kind prayers when I took a most unexpected trip to the hospital this last week. I can assure you that it was only dehydration and that I am fine.
March 17th was Sodality Sunday and attended by 20 Sodalists and 7 spouses. Thank you all for coming.
RUMMAGE SALE IS APRIL 5TH & 6TH. We need your help.
Our meeting is April 10th at 6:30 pm For those of you who have never attended a Pound Auction, I can assure you thatyou will have an evening of laughs . Bring something wrapped that weighs at least a pound. Come and place your bid on the items that we will have for auction. We would like everyone to wrap something up that weighs a pound. It can be over but NOT under a pound. Make sure we can’t tell what it is. Then put on a piece of paper a little hint as to what it could be and attach it to the package. They will then be auctioned off and sold to the highest bidder. None will be opened until sold. You are in for wonderful surprises.
Ladies, I know this may sound a little morbid but at February’s meeting I passed a sheet around for the members to indicate whether they would like a full Rosary said at their wake or one decade. I will bring the sheet around again at April’s meeting and those of you who would like to sign up may do so at this time. If you cannot make the meeting, you can call me with your wishes. We want to make sure YOUR wishes are carried out. Keep in mind a full Rosary takes about 20 minutes. This would NOT be recommended if you had only a few hours for a wake so let your wishes be known to your spouse or children.
May the Easter spirit live on in all of you.
Jan

The following Article XIII Death of a Sodalist was discussed at February’s meeting and It was determined that we
should change it to read (2013 Amendment):

Section 2. The Sodality shall gather at the wake at a convenient time before the funeral and pray one or two decades of the Rosary or the whole Rosary depending on the Sodalist’s wishes for the happy repose of the departed Sodalist’s soul.
Section 3. On the day of the funeral, the Sodalists shall form an Honor Guard as the departed Sodalists’ body is carried into the Church and again on leaving the Church.
I asked several of the Senior Sodalists (Cass, Evelyn, Rita, Stasia) to help write some guidelines for Honorary and Exempt members. Your Board, along with their suggestions, has come up with the following:
Honorary and Exempt members
HONORARY MEMBERS will be determined by every individual case and will be EXEMPT from dues.
a) Every Sodality member who is a permanent resident of a nursing facility, permanently homebound or has established permanent residency in another state would be an EXEMPT member. They would be exempt from dues and would still receive Heart Talks unless someone informs us that they no longer want it.
b) Sodalists who have been members for 30 years would be EXEMPT from dues and would receive Heart Talks.
